Quick Peach Cobbler:

So the other day I was looking for a dessert recipe for peaches since I when I whent to the groccery store the peaches were the only thing that looked fresh enough to me. Peach Cobbler being one of my favorite desserts I leaned toward that, but I did decide a long time ago that I will not make peach cobbler since it never make it taste the way my mom used to make it taste. So while I was looking online for recipes, I was looking at peach tarts, peach puff pastries and other peach desserts I came accross a peach cobbler from Paula Deen. It was made using self rising flour, and it did not have all of the ingredients I like in my peach cobbler so of course I would have to add those to make it my own creation. This recipe was something I have never tried before, with flour I have never used before so it was at the top of my list of things to make. When it was finish baking it turned out to be great, but something I will not make again for myself, because it was not like any peach cobbler i've ever tasted. This was more like a cake with peaches 2/3 of the way down inside of it. I will however make this for other people and see what they think of it, since it is a fast dessert that is made from all fresh ingredients. It took me much longer to make my onion rings than it did to make this peach dessert. Below is the modified deseert, I modified it right from the beginning becasue it does not have any cinnamon, or lemon juice, and it called for too much sugar in the recipe. I hope you enjoy it my family did.

Peach Cobbler:

4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
1 3/4 cups sugar, divided
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
2 tsp lemon juice
3/4 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat. Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt. Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Do not stir. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon (optional). Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.

  1. Your blog is beautiful and I like the layout. I think it makes reading each entry very visually appealing.

I also think that even though your mom's peach cobbler recipe may be the best, you should still not be afraid to give it a go. Like you said in this article, you like to make things your own creation. Why not go with that for your own cobbler recipe? Who knows, you may even out-do your mom!
